Taoyuan Southern New Immigrant Learning Center

【Introduction】
To assist new immigrants in adapting to and integrating into Taiwanese society and daily life, the Taoyuan City Department of Education, in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s New Immigrant Learning Center Program, commissioned Zhongzhen Elementary School in Pingzhen District and Xingfu Junior High School in Guishan District to jointly operate the Southern and Northern New Immigrant Learning Centers. By integrating school resources, the centers provide diverse learning opportunities and channels for new immigrants and their families.

【Background】
To express care and support for new immigrants and their children, the Taoyuan City Government and the Ministry of Education jointly established Taiwan’s first New Immigrant Learning Center at Zhongzhen Elementary School in Pingzhen District on March 28, 2005. Together, they strive for the future development of new immigrants and global multiculturalism, aiming to foster public understanding and empathy toward new immigrants, promote bicultural identity among the new generation in Taiwan, and expand lifelong learning opportunities for new immigrants.

【Objectives】

  1. Strengthen educational knowledge among new immigrants and effectively promote family and parenting education.
  2. Encourage new immigrants to participate in continuing education and training activities, establish support networks, and provide necessary assistance.
  3. Plan educational growth and development activities to improve the quality of education for new immigrants.
  4. Provide accessible and inclusive learning environments (resource sharing) to cultivate basic life adaptation skills and positive interpersonal relationships.
  5. Respect multiculturalism, integrate social resources, provide diverse learning opportunities, and assist adaptation and learning to enhance national competitiveness.
