For transnational new immigrant students and children returned from overseas who have enrolled in school in Taiwan but have no foundation in Mandarin, what channels are available to assist them?
According to the "Standard Operating Principles for the Enrollment of Transnational New Immigrant Students and Children Returned from Overseas in Primary and Junior High Schools in Taoyuan City," if a student is assessed to lack Mandarin proficiency through a scholastic ability evaluation, the school shall immediately initiate Mandarin remedial courses. Furthermore, schools shall apply to this Bureau for funding for Mandarin remedial teaching and interpreter assistants to help students adapt to their learning and school life.
