Can foreign nationals (including those from Mainland China) purchase land or houses in Taiwan? How should they proceed?
Foreign nationals who comply with Article 18 of the Land Act and the "List of Countries with Reciprocal Rights for Foreigners to Acquire or Set up Land Rights in Our Country" may apply to the local Land Office under this government with relevant documents to purchase land or houses. Additionally, residents from Mainland China may apply to this government’s Department of Land Administration to purchase land or houses in accordance with Article 69 of the "Act Governing Relations between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area" and Articles 6, 8, and 9 of the "Regulations on the Permission for People of the Mainland Area to Acquire, Set up, or Transfer Real Estate Property Rights in the Taiwan Area".
