My wife is a foreign spouse who just arrived in Taiwan. She is currently pregnant and does not have an NHI card. Is there any subsidy for prenatal checkups?

After arriving in Taiwan, new residents who are employed must join the National Health Insurance (NHI) from the date of employment. Others must join the NHI after holding a residence permit and residing in Taiwan continuously for 6 months.
To protect the reproductive health of new resident women before they join the NHI, pregnant new residents (hereafter referred to as "the case") should prepare the following documents and apply at their local district public health center. Applications are processed upon arrival: (1) Original Household Register. (2) Original Residence Permit (ARC). (3) Maternal Health Booklet.
Health center personnel will issue the following: (1) 10 prenatal checkup record slips for the case. (2) 1 Group B Streptococcus (GBS) screening (including 1 subsidy record slip and 1 screening record form). (3) 2 prenatal health care education and guidance sessions.
The case should bring the prenatal checkup record slips, GBS screening subsidy record slip, and prenatal health care education record form, along with the Maternal Health Booklet, to medical institutions for prenatal examinations.
One record slip is used for each prenatal checkup; no reissuance if lost.
